J. Carr Land Surveying is located in Corpus Christi, Texas and was founded by owner James Carr in October 2021. Mr. Carr started surveying in 1997 as a rodman for the City of Waco Engineering Department. During this time, theodolites and detachable electronic distance meters were phasing out, while total stations and Global Positioning Systems were taking over as the newest technology. He was very fortunate to have been taught the “old school” way and prides himself on truly understanding the duties of a Land Surveyor as passed onto him from his mentors. His curiosities and drive to understand theory and technology led the way to earning degrees in Geomatics and Digital Mapping, ultimately becoming a Registered Professional Land Surveyor. Along this journey, he has enhanced his skillset by staying connected with the Texas Board of Professional Engineering and Land Surveying rules, procedures, and practices aligned with the higher ethical and technical standards set forth by Texas Society of Professional Surveyors.

EXPERIENCE
Mr. Carr has over 25 years of combined field and office, project management, and academia Land Surveying experience; gaining excellent proficiency in a broad spectrum of surveying applications such as: ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, Boundary and Topographic Surveys, Ranch and Partition Surveys, Construction Staking, Subdivision Platting, Right-of-Way Surveys and Acquisitions, Easements/Metes and Bounds Descriptions, QA/QC Horizontal/Vertical Monitoring, for civil engineering, architectural, structural and industrial applications.
His responsibilities over the past decades have consisted of managing, calculating, coordinating, and executing preliminary and final phases of; residential and commercial projects, airport expansions, utility infrastructure and thoroughfares, municipal wastewater and water treatment plants/towers, electrical substation/transmission line staking, pipeline alignments, tank terminal storage facilities and vertical monitoring, quality control for energy plant expansions and oil/gas drill location surveys. Performed inland hydrographic surveys and conducted flood zone/floodway studies for coastal and riverine systems. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) experience includes capturing, creating, and customizing spatial data for developing, analyzing, and maintaining GIS databases for internal use, private sectors, municipalities, and the energy resource industry.
Management experience encompasses the visioning, planning, and directing of field and office operations for fast-paced, multi-disciplined Engineering and Surveying companies. His servient leadership includes oversight of the technical and legal aspects of the regulation of Land Surveying and related practices. Continually, he selflessly cultivates lasting positive change of improvement for survey department personnel and his skillset. “Together - we are better” is his motivational keynote. He and his team effectively maintain sustainable workflow for interdepartmental and client projects while consistently providing a quality product in a timely manner. Administratively, he has preserved superior client relations, proposal management and operating budgets for private projects to public and government IDIQ projects. He specializes in development and implementation of systematic procedures to maximize operating efficiency.
